More than living in a special building
The Droste factory was built in 1890 on the edge of the Spaarne river in Haarlem. In Holland, when you say Droste, you say cocoa, you say chocolate.
In 2009, the monumental structure was converted to an apartment building with 40 apartments. The residents of these apartments are affiliated with the 'Friends of Droste' Foundation and would like to use this site to open the virtual doors of this special building. Unfortunately, we cannot imitate the smell of the famous chocolate, but take a walk through our neighborhood, be amazed and understand why we are proud to live here.

Feel free to come and have a look
From Haarlem Central Station, it’s a walk of
less than 10 minutes to the former Droste factory. Unfortunately, the smell of
chocolate won’t guide you there, but if you follow the footpath along the Kloppersingel, for example, you’ll be there in no time.
Have a coffee at Mooie Boules, Stadsstrand de Oerkap by the Prinsenbrug, or at Figee
Café in the BakkeRij. Soon there will be
even more to see and do in the adjacent area around the Lichtfabriek.
